The FDM Travels to West Africa
Byron Perkins, DO, our AFDMA president, traveled to Burkina Faso, West Africa, in January 2010 to team up with Georg Harrer, MD and offer an FDM Seminar there for physicians and physical therapists. This was not Dr. Perkins first visit to Burkina Faso as he visits there regularly doing medical missions. When Dr. Perkins was there in 2008 on a medical missions trip, he introduced the FDM and then brought an enthusiastic "student," Harouna Diallo, to the FDM Seminar in San Diego in 2009. "The FDM Seminar went well with 33 registered participants. Dr. Typaldos would have been blessed to see it. His vision, his dream and passion are coming to pass. I believe it will make a great impact, not only in Burkina, but ultimately in all of Africa." The course was received with great enthusiasm and an African FDM organization will be formed with the support of the AFDMA, EFDMA and FAA. Plans are already being made to offer yearly FDM courses in Burkina Faso.
